The practice
Eleven years painting, and a season restoring wooden yacht hulls that changed what finish means to me. There is a quality of work that exists beyond what most people will ever ask for — and once you find it, everything else feels like settling.
I studied fine art. I understand color the way a painter does, not just the way a contractor does. I care about what a surface looks like in morning light versus late afternoon, and why that matters to the people who live with it every day.
Surface takes on a small number of projects each season. Every one of them gets the same thing — my full attention, from the first conversation to the final coat.
